Content and aim
The “1st International Youth Meeting: European Citizen- Where are you?” will bring together youth leaders, facilitators and other youngsters interested in youth work from 20 different European countries. The main aim of the programme is to support the idea of an active European citizenship, participation, and non-formal learning.
We have created a colourful programme which will include a wide-ranging supply of thematic points. There will be different activities on several floors and every working day equals one cluster with topics such as Democracy, Migration & Active Citizenship, and Decision-making in the EU, Youth Participation, and Media. In order to achieve our goals we are going to discuss terms such as Participation and European citizenship, show and diffuse good examples of European youth work, critically discuss the role of media in youth work, show and communicate different methods of non-formal learning etc.
Target group
Our target group are youth workers, team leaders, peers, facilitators, and project managers who work in the youth field in their own environment and who have also worked or are willing to work on international projects. The participants need to be informed about the situation of young people in their community, they need to be willing to participate actively and to support and take part in the creation of follow-up projects. We expect the participants to be prepared for the participation in the project and for the encounters with other people from different backgrounds and cultures. By including a large number of partner organisations from the EU we aim to integrate a broad range of different experiences and to offer all partners and participants the chance to compare and exchange methods and tools on the given themes.
Preparation
During the meeting you will have the opportunity to present yourself and your sending organisation so you should bring any material you consider useful (e.g. photos, videos, newspapers, leaflets, posters etc.). We would like you to bring any practical examples of Youth or YiA projects implementation from your organisation, if it is possible in relation to the topic of the meeting.
Accommodation
We will stay and work in the Youth House “Marcel Callo”, Lindenallee 21 in 37308 Heilbad Heiligenstadt (Thuringia). Boarding and lodging will be provided. For further information visit the website:

This training was developed in 2006 in cooperation between youth workers from Code X International (The Netherlands) and Youth leaders coalition (Latvia). So far we already implemented 3 of those trainings with great results. Also SALTO is recognized this training as usefull.
Some people say debriefing is so important that it is the learning experience. Debriefing allows participants to process what they’ve learned. This ensures that activities aren’t left unfi nished, with participants wondering what they accomplished or why an activity was done. To enable participants to get the most out of activities, it is essential to provide them with an opportunity to discuss what they’ve learned.
Debriefi ng is a method: • For groups, • To refl ect after an activity, • To help people acknowledge and talk about their feelings and experiences,
• To promote sharing and feedback within the group, • To support self-evaluation and self-learning, • To transfer the knowledge gained in activities to real life. Debriefi ng is: • Interactive, • An open-space.
Why do we need Debriefing? When we use that? How and Why? And more questions will be answered during TC.
There are partners from Latvia, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Germany and Slovenia
All participants should have some experience in working with target group (group activities) and available to communicate in English
